Welcome to Making the Grade!

About Making the Grade (MTG): Making the Grade is a unique program dedicated to helping students achieve academic success and reach their full potential. Our Volunteer Mentors play a crucial role in this journey by providing guidance, support, and inspiration to students throughout the school year.

Volunteer Mentor Responsibilities: As a Volunteer Mentor, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students. Here's what you can expect:

  1. Attendance at MTG Conferences: Throughout the school year, Volunteer Mentors are invited to participate in up to four MTG conferences. These events are typically 2-3 hours long and serve as valuable opportunities for mentors to connect with students.

  2. One-on-One Sessions: During these conferences, mentors engage in one-on-one sessions with students. This is where the magic happens! You'll have the chance to review students' academic progress, discuss any challenges they may be facing, identify opportunities for growth, and chart a path toward a successful future.

  3. Provide Guidance and Encouragement: Your role is not just about academics; it's about being a source of inspiration and encouragement. By sharing your experiences and insights, you can help students navigate the challenges of school and life.

  4. Building Lasting Relationships: The bonds you form with students can have a profound impact on their lives. Building a trusting relationship can be just as important as the academic support you provide.

Join Us in Making a Difference: We believe that every student has the potential to "Make the Grade" with the right guidance and support. By volunteering as a mentor, you become an essential part of this journey.

If you're ready to get involved or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team. We look forward to working with you to create a brighter future for our students!

WHY IS MAKING THE GRADE IMPORTANT?

By offering accessible mentoring opportunities in-school, students are provided a way to help them reflect on their academic performance, set goals, and plan for the future. It also acts as an intervention system for students to get any help they may need.
